ERP Power’s Lumenetix-araya™ color tuning technology is illuminating Barneys retail spaces. The lighting design by Cooley Monato allows the spaces to feel cohesive, spacious and dynamic despite challenging retail conditions such as large floor expanses, irregular column grids, and varying ceiling heights.
The lighting designer and architects Steven Harris and Lalire March agreed that the stair’s architecture could not be upstaged. Continuously lit, sinuous, hand rail coves follow the spiral at both stair walls, welcoming customers and leading them to other floors. Small, low wattage, in-grade uplights at the stair treads provide a subtle glow to the underside plane, softly enhancing its contours.

The Luxurious Effects of Color Tuning Light
Recessed and regressed lighting fixtures, as well as those with beveled trims, enable apertures to practically disappear from view. Cosmetics, skincare, fragrance, and barbershop areas feature high color rendering lights in the ceiling to illuminate the array of products while lighting faces uniformly and without glare.
The level of attention to lighting detail, as well as the construction, is impressive. Light grazes and highlights rosewood feature walls, as well as the vertical surfaces, providing bright planes for ambiance.

36-foot mural paintings are evenly lit from above, as light cove ‘amoebas’ break up the ceiling throughout.
